Galaxy Shirt

DIY:
Galaxy Shirt

This galaxy shirt DIY is an easy to make and impressive addition to your closet! You are only a few steps away from an amazing out of this world shirt.

Supplies:
-Black shirt
-Fabric paints (Colors to make a galaxy such as: Navy, purple, red, and white)
-Toothbrush
-Makeup sponges
-Small paintbrush or pencil

Steps:
1.) First start with the blue paint and use the makeup sponge to dab on the color in patches around the shirt. This will be the begining of a grand adventure through space.
2.)Next, dab the purple around the blue but not on top of the blue. Overlap these two colors one inch in width.
3.) Then use the red paint to dab any space that is left in between the galaxy.
4.) Go back over your previous colors to make sure you have the desired brightness of each color.

5.)Make sure the paint is dried and then take a toothbrush that you have spread the bristles apart and coat it with paint. Make sure that it is only a thin layer or you will have clumpy stars!
6.) Gently dab the toothbrush on spots around the shirt to create your stars. Pick only a few spots to make the star galaxies!
7.) Add a few larger stars as crosses with a small paint brush or the tip of a pencil.

8.) Dry with a hair dryer and then leave it out to dry overnight to make sure that it is completely dry before wearing.

Secret Book Safe

DIY: Secret Book Safe

This craft can be done with old books to turn into a crafty keepsake! Hid all your prized possessions or tiny treasures in this space made from a discarded or damaged book.

Things Needed:
-A (thick) Book
-Modge Podge
-Exacto Knife
-Paint Brush/ Sponge

Steps:
1.) Paint the last pages of the book to the inside back cover with modge podge. Let dry for 10 minutes.
2.) Paint the outside of the book around the edges with the mod podge and let dry for 15 minutes. Don't worry if the glue gets onto the book because it will dry clear.
3.) Draw a rectangular outline with pencil on the inside page about 1 inch from each side. Then use a knife or exacto knife to cut along the outline. Make sure to cut the corners extra carefully.
4.) Cut through several pages and then stop to remove pages and continue cutting and removing pages to the desired depth.
5.) Seal the cut pages with glue.

Do not worry if the cuts aren't perfect! This gives it a vintagey feel. Now you can put this on your bookshelf and enjoy a secretive hiding place that no one will ever suspect.

*Future Projects: Keep in mind that after this project, you will be in possession of many scrap pages. These pages can be kept for later projects.
